About

“I found yoga during a time where I felt really unsure about myself and the direction I wanted to guide my life. After experiencing the transformation and sense of clarity that yoga provided me, I felt led to curate unique wellness experiences to guide folks back home to themselves + find stillness amongst the busyness of everyday life.”

-Ivory Levert

“You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.”

- Maya Angelou

Rise and Bloom Yoga was inspired by two of my greatest inspirations, Maya Angelou and my daughter, Zamya.

Poet, dancer, activist, singer and author; a multidimensional and complex being who truly lived out loud.

The wisdom of Maya Angelou’s life and writings have been a consistent guiding force and connection to my history since middle school.

From “Still I Rise” to “Phenomenal Woman” to “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings”, the energy of her being to speak and live truthfully, creatively, and unapologetically is a spirit I strive to embody through the way that I teach and live my everyday life.

My beautiful, silly, wise, loving, adventurous daughter Zamya (whose name means blooming flower), reminds me to slow down and stay present.

The reminder to make space for the simplicity of life. To play, to experience pleasure, to do nothing, to take life less seriously, to simply be.

Outside of the physical benefits of yoga, my hope is that folks leave my classes with a true embodied experience.

An experience that feels holistic, that invites self-inquiry, that makes space for rest and that challenges the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

More About Ivory

Ivory Levert is a wellness educator + certified yoga and meditation guide, specializing in vinyasa, restorative and pre/postnatal yoga through a trauma-informed lens.

Ivory focuses on empowering individuals to reconnect to themselves both on and off the yoga mat; helping folks learn their bodies, know when to challenge themselves and when to seek rest. As someone who didn’t initially feel welcomed in many yoga spaces, Ivory aims to make her classes accessible and welcome to all body types, backgrounds and experiences.

Off the mat, you can catch Ivory dancing, enjoying a nature walk/run, singing karaoke, eating some good vegan eats, diving into a good book and quoting Maya Angelou! Ivory is inspired by the quote; “when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously allow others to do the same”, and strives to be a light for herself and others in all aspects of her life.

Testimonials

Ivory is a phenomenal curator of intentionality. I’ve had the pleasure to join her on Sundays with The Yoga Carriage at Replenish and it has become my highlight of the week. I always leave her yoga classes feeling valued, renewed and transformed. Ivory has an aura about her that is welcoming, free-spirited and kind-hearted. I have even recruited my friends and sisters to join ????
I was always nervous and scared to try yoga, I’m a plus size woman and yoga hasn’t been on the top of my bucket list. Ivory does a wonderful job explaining each move we’re going into next and gives you different modification options. I’ve been making it a mission to go to every Sunday and have made Ivory’s class a big part of my week. I recommend Ivory’s class to anyone that asks!
I love Ivory’s yoga style, her voice is soothing and relaxing and she is very patient and intentional with the flow and also the play list. I love how she explains the poses and how to get into them. The music is great, the flow is always so relaxing, I always feel like I'm in a completely different world when I finish her class. It's just what my mind, body, and soul need ☺️❣️????????‍♀️!
Ivory’s virtual yoga classes have been a lifeline for me during the Covid-19 pandemic. I began relying on them heavily when the Black Lives Matter movement began to expose Black America’s racial trauma to the world. I was grateful to connect with Ivory and several other women for “Breathing While Black”. It was quite the experience and just what I needed.
My favorite thing about a class with Ivory is the energy that surrounds this incredibly joyful, knowledgeable, and curious teacher. Whenever I walk into her class I immediately feel a very specific type of calm. She created this environment with her tone, flows and music but mainly I think it is just because Ivory is all heart. I always leave Ivory's classes feeling grounded and peaceful + I am so grateful.
